Since being inspired by Matt’s generative art session at Flashbrighton a while back, I’ve been occasionally working on a personal project. It’s a Flex application where you can generate interesting abstract images and animations. It’s tricky to describe exactly what it is and what it does, so you can see for yourselves when I release it.
It was initially a simple idea of mine to see what something looked like when manipulated in a certain way. After playing around with it for a while and adding more functionality, I began finding myself entranced by the things I/it was accidentally creating. When I’ve added a bit more functionality I’ll release it and see if anyone else finds it as intriguing as I do
If you’re interested in helping me alpha-test this, then let me know.
[Edit: By the way, it's using Papervision]

Hi Iestyn
These look BEAUTIFUL.
I’m wondering whether there is a real-time element involved? If if responds to input on the fly I would definitely find it entrancing.
Great stuff… looking forward to seeing more.
neat.
Thanks
Yes, it’s all real-time, responds to your inputs, and you can select the source material too.
I’m also thinking of creating an Arduino interface for it too, maybe manipulate it with potentiometers and Wii Nunchucks etc..

These are really special mate. And an exciting project too! It reminds me of when Photoshop filters came out!
Looks amazing!
The red one especially..
The obvious question I’m thinking of is: can it all be done to music? I think this would look rather good as accompaniement to my mixes (mixesforfixes.stushort.com)
On another note, it appears a raven has taken up residence in my garden. Rather fascinating just to sit and watch him
It could certainly react to sound, that’s something I’ll look into.
This is very cool… are you going to opensource this ?
Not sure yet. Maybe
Yum. I wanna see it move.
